Boundaries, Change & Perspective
Written by The Transition on 12/02/2021
As a team, we’ve been looking at different elements of personal growth for the new year. On our previous show, we discussed boundaries, knowing yourself and knowing yourself in Christ, Changes, perspective. When it comes to growth and knowing yourself, these things are key to creating your safe space.
The definition of a boundary is something that indicates or fixes a limit or extent. Having boundaries is important and extremely healthy. These personal boundaries are a limit you apply to all aspects of your life. You need to understand yourself, who you are, what you represent, morals, belief and values. Boundaries come from a place of knowing what works well for you and others around you. We all experienced a heavy 2020, having boundaries in place in all areas, mentally, physically & spiritually, can help you with understanding what you allow or don’t allow into your space.
The bible tells us the boundaries that are Godly for our hearts, morality beliefs, identity, thoughts that work in our favour. A lot of people see the Bible a set of rules that controls your life. God is a God of love; the bible has guidance on the boundaries for the areas that God has given us responsibility for. “You were taught, with regard to your former way of life, to put off your old self, which is being corrupted by its deceitful desires;” Ephesians 4:22 NIV Knowing who you are in Christ is the foundation to life.
Society has a love/hate relationship with change. Change is inevitable, it’s always going to happen, and we cannot run away from it. Change has a lot of negativity and anxiousness attached to it. Whereas it should be used to ignite faith, strength, and growth. We must lean on God through the change as He is the source for peace and strength. “There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under the heavens…” Ecclesiastes 3:1. The Christian journey is a journey of change, you change from your old ways to being born again. With this we need to remember that God never changes, His promises remain the same. The change within us is from our normal ways to His ways. These ways benefit us in the long run, changes from our sinful past or cultural beliefs to Gods way. This may be the hardest change but again it’s beneficial to our growth. The Christian journey is a journey of change, you change from your old ways to being born again. We must lean on God through the change as He is the source for peace and strength.
Having a good perspective is beneficial to life. At times, our perspective can create some morals or structure for our lives. In life you must have a clear perspective of things, how people feel, the situation, you need to be aware of perspectives. When we look at the bible, we get a Kingdoms perspective, a perspective out of our own, a positive way, a particular attitude towards something, a point of view that is for the better. Sometimes we may assume based on emotions, however, the perspective of the situation is based on your own perspective to dealing with life.
The definition of perspective is a particular attitude towards or way of regarding something, a point of view. Like boundaries, we as Christians need to include God’s perspective to life. It’s the only way that focuses us, motivates us and opens the door to God’s goodness. Seek the Kingdom of God above all else, and live righteously, and he will give you everything you need. Matthew 6:33.
